Clearing out the local beck and streams, building small dams to encourage oxygenation of the water and to encourage wildlife
Drystone Walling.
Replacing & repairing the old drystone walls that once covered the area, improving the habitat for plants animals & insects that live in and amongst the walls
Footpath Maintenance
On going works to improve the footpaths in Churwell, working closely with Morley Parks Dept & LCC Public Rights of Way by relaying hardcore and cutting back overgrowth, installing stiles and recently opening up a new footpaths through Clarkspring Woods with the kind permission of the land owners.
Events
The group regularly organise events & walks to encourage & introduce local families to their local environment, events range from tree & bulb planting, woodland walks, Bat and Fungi evenings & many other events-see our events page.
Community Projects
Working with local schools
The group headed by our educational advisor & local Morley NPT (Police) in work with local children, schools and after school clubs by providing expertise in woodland crafts, pond dipping, tree planting, surveying & wildlife spotting.
Coppicing
Coppicing/Woodland Management is ongoing, cutting back, felling and planting, under the guidance of LCC Forestry Dept –any cut timber is then recycled for other projects e.g. fencing

Repairing drystone wall Smools Lane
By helping & supporting local community groups and schools within the Morley area, by providing labour and expertise in delivering their projects.
The team are developing a number of ponds in the area to provide pond dipping areas for schools and children, and also to encourage a more diverse environment for wildlife, recently Kingfishers & Herons have been see around our new ponds in Daffil Woods
The group work closely with various wildlife organisations and LCC Park Rangers in completing wildlife surveys and reporting and unusual sightings.
The volunteers do weekly litter picks throughout the area & empty the litter/poo bins that have been provided by 'Morley in Bloom' - Volunteers are always wanted.
